Hares Youth U13 completed the double on Sunday (8 May) on one of the hottest days so far this year! Hares came into the League Cup Final having won Division 1 of the Royston Crow Youth Football League for the second year running, having lost only one game all season!
Playing Royston Town Youth Eagles in the Cup Final after having drawn to them in the league two weeks before was always going to be exciting and both teams were up for the challenge. There was end to end action in the soaring heat with both teams having chances but they went in at half time drawing 0-0.
Again, both teams came out battling in the second half with a great display of football. Hares Youth’s chance came about 15 minutes into the second half with a run down the right hand side by Dominic Garrod who crossed it into the box. Noah Perry headed the ball down to his feet and lobbed the goal keeper and the ball landed in the net! There were some anxious moments near the end but Hares held on until the final whistle.
Winning the league cup final finished off a fantastic season for the boys and coaches Neil Garrod and Simon Muir were delighted with the boys performance both on the day and during a very successful season…
