Today the u7s were expecting to end 2016 with a game against Royston Town Eagles! Sadly the game had to be cancelled due to Royston having a pitch problem – they could not supply any goals. So I would like to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. See you all next year!!

Hares Youth U10 Blacks finished 2016 in some real style today at home against Baldock Town Knights. First half was a tight game which saw Baldock really giving Hares a run for their money. A slight change in formation which saw Hares take a little while to get into the game. Half way through the first half Hares managed to break through the opposition defence with a beautifully taken goal from Oliver who managed to get it over the goalkeeper and in off the underside of the crossbar from outside the area. So going in at half time it was still anybody’s game. Second half Hares stepped it up a gear and some of the team play / passing was amazing to watch. Baldock were never going to give up though and kept plugging away. More goals were scored before the final whistle and they were shared around between Baldock and Oliver, Matthew, Bradley and Leo for the Hares. All the Hares players should be so proud of themselves at how they played today, the team play was brilliant and they never lost focus on what they were asked to do. Man of the match was a very hard choice today, but Oliver walked away with it, well done.  We would also like to add a big thank you to Baldock Town who are a fairly new formed team, but they have a great bunch of kids, fantastic parents and a couple of great coaches. Merry Christmas from all the U10’s Blacks.

The Under 12’s travelled to Bishops Stortford Wanderers this week with a depleted squad of only 9 players due to illness. On a very heavy pitch The Hares were not quite able to get their passing game going and it was the hosts who had the early chances. The Hares defence held strong though and the visitors slowly got themselves into the game and it could have been either side who could have broken the deadlock before going in at Half Time with the score at 0-0. Bishops Stortford came out strong for the second half and scored within minutes of the re-start to make it 0-1. Despite going behind The Hares put in a spirited effort and were rewarded with the equaliser with a goal from Michael to level the score at 1-1. In an evenly fought game either side could have nicked a winner but both teams shared the points with the game finishing 1-1. Well done to our Under 12’s so far this year, they have had some great performances and results. The coaches would like to wish all our players, parents and supporters a Merry Christmas and a Happy New year.
