On Saturday the U7s played at home vs Biggleswade Town u7s, it started as cold as a freezer but that didn’t stop the team from going out and playing like they hadn’t had a week between games. From the start Biggleswade couldn’t keep up the pace of the Hares, scoring before the first 10 mins was over, second 10 they still come out with hunger in their bellies and sadly let in some goals but that didn’t stop them from continuing the pressure on the opponents. Next 10 mins they went out again hungry there was a brilliant scramble from Logan he wasn’t gonna give up on the ball to put on a fantastic one boy show! And then the team couldn’t stop with Harry getting his first of the season and Austin and James scoring more, then Biggleswade slipped in another goal against us, last 10 mins they again didn’t want to stop passing moving brilliantly and Charlie scoring which made his day! M.o.t.m was Austin!
With the u8 Black’s opponents not over keen to travel and risk the conditions with a under strength team it was down to the Orange team to represent Hares at u8 this Saturday. Yes it was cold, slippy and a touch hard in areas of the pitch but more than playable as the game proved. Shefford Saints were the opposition and they were by no means cold, they started the game on fire and pinned Hares in their own half for the early part of the game, the pressure soon paid off for the away team as Shefford scored some well deserved goals in what looked to be a one sided game. The introduction of fresh legs for the home team though turned the game on its head and it was Hares creating all the chances and Shefford defending. The second half started much as the first with the Saints doing all the attacking and Hares defending resolutely, then again with changes Hares started to press forward and trouble Shefford. A fine individual goal from Hares got the team on the score sheet and they woke up. It was Shefford who had to defend and they did so very well and managed to score on the break. The away team though started to tire near the end of the game and Hares started to dominate, there were some fine team goals and a superb individual one from Hares in a very close well played game from both teams. A wonderful mornings football from both teams was topped off by three cheers and a very loud happy birthday to you from both teams players, parents and coaches to Hares Birthday boy Jack. Happy birthday Jack and well played all. Great fun.
The U10 Blacks luckily were able to move their KO back an hour this morning, and thankfully the sun did it’s job and made the pitch playable. The Blacks were at home against Baldock Town Lancers, new to our league. Baldock started of the better team, closing us down and playing the ball quickly. They attacked us whenever they had the ball making Hares defend in numbers. Although against the run of play The Blacks did try and play the ball into the attacking half when they worked together, but Baldock went in front and probably deserved it. Oliver did get the ball in the back of the net but play was pulled back to an earlier tackle. It looked like it was going to be one of those days. Second half the Blacks came out fighting and really started playing the kind of football we all know they can play. The gloves were off and they were not going to give up easily. Some great football was played going forward with Oliver, Leo and Paul all combining together, even Matthew went on a little run going past 4 players and having a shot but was unlucky not to score. It wasn’t long though before Hares found the goal and that gave them all a real lift. Our defenders were still working hard but they were also working hard to get the ball to the midfielders and move forward with the game. With the Blacks now controlling the game it wasn’t long before more goals were scored. Every single player played so well today, they never gave up and continued to keep their heads up. Well done to all of you. Goals from Paul and Leo. M.O.T.M went to Paul for a fantastic display. Well done.
