The U12’s welcomed Stevenage Boro Cobras to Ralph Sadlier this weekend for their final game of the current campaign. Hoping to turn their recent good performances into a win the home side started brightly, and they were rewarded for their early pressure when Tom Griffiths found the net with a neat finish to make it 1-0 to The Hares. With the team full of confidence they made it 2-0 when George Clark showed a great touch and finish for his 47th goal of the Season (although he’s adamant he’s scored 49!). Stevenage came out stronger for the second half and reduced The Hares lead to 1 goal, but they were not going to spoil The Hares’ goodbye to 9-a-side football as the home side saw the game out for a well deserved 2-1 win, and ensured they were not going to finish with the wooden spoon by moving above the visitors in the league. Having moved up from the 4th to the 2nd Division this Season, by winning one and coming Runners-Up in the other, the boy’s should be congratulated on their achievements this year. With 11-a-side football awaiting them next Season let’s hope we can recruit more players over the summer, and hopefully have as good a year at Under 13’s as they have at Under 12’s!
