A cold and chilly morning for the under 7s today, but that didn’t stop the smiling faces and the sheer determination of our boys. We hosted Letchworth and the boys did not stop trying from start to finish. Some great passing football and goals from a number of the teammates resulted yet again in some very proud parents. POM goes to Harry for the black team and Charlie R for the oranges, well done lads, coaches are super proud of you.
Today the under 8s played Arlesey Town Youth u8 away. Hares were cold but started the game how they finished last weeks home game, we were down on numbers but the whole team played brilliantly. Win, lose or draw everyone enjoyed it, thank you all see you next week! Player of the match :- Charlie, he is really starting to show how good he is. Star player:- George, Scoring the amount of goals he did!
Pro Direct started strongly against Hares Youth U11 Yellows and scored after just 5 minutes at that stage it looked like we might be overrun by the opposition tactics. The instructions we gave to our defenders assumed the opposition would play with a single striker as we hadn’t played a team who have pushed more than one player high, instead Pro Direct played with three forwards pushed up on our three defenders. Their tactic was to hit the ball over the top of our defenders for the three of them to run onto, this caused us a big problem with our preferred high line. We managed to pull a goal back so went in even at half time. We then took the opportunity to give fresh instructions to our defence to help counter their plan and in the second half we were simply exceptional. We played some of our best football of the season and I’m sure everyone that watched the game was very proud of the team. The opposition was tough and physical and I suspect a few of the boys will have gone home battered and bruised, we’ve never seen an under 11 get booked before! Sid earned Star Man for an exceptional performance keeping perhaps the strongest of their three attackers quiet and there were goals from Luca, Connor, Francis and Javi.
We break now for Christmas so no training or matches until January
Have a wonderful Christmas and many thanks to all the parents who turn up in the cold to support the players
