Wintery weather and an early start didn’t stop the under 7s today, as an away fixture in Biggleswade meant a 3G surface and a guaranteed game. The boys were desperate to get back out there after three weeks off and they didn’t disappoint. A brilliant cross from Charlie R put Liam T on the scoresheet to open the game and the blacks never looked back. MOTM for Charlie as a result but a fantastic performance by all.
The oranges struggled to get into the game in the first half, but their ‘never give up attitude’ paid off and they were soon within sight off the opposition with only minutes to go. As goalie, Adam B kicked the ball forward in the dying seconds and it bounced round the goalie into an open net to send the parents home happy. Brilliant effort and MOTM to Louis J for some brilliant tackles.
Well done boys, home next week so a lay in!!
Unfortunately the U8’s game was done for by the wet weather overnight leaving the pitch at RS unplayable.
The Under 13’s welcomed Hitchin Town Lions to Ralph Sadlier this Sunday hoping to keep up their recent good run of results. With Hitching Town rooted to the bottom of the league The Hares were looking for a comfortable Sunday morning run out, but it was the visitors who started more brightly and deservedly took the lead mid-way through the first half. This was the wakeup call The Hares needed and were soon back into the game when George C was able to capitalise on a long throw and stabbed the ball home to make it 1-1 going into the break. After a few encouraging words from the coaches at half time the boys came out playing much better in the second half and took the lead when Joey W found the net with a long range effort from outside the box. 2-1 became 3-1 to The Hares a minute later when George C grabbed his second after a great turn inside the box to tee himself up for a neat finish across the keeper into the right corner of the goal. Despite another average performance by the boys this week it was 3 more points won, and are now only off second place on goal difference. MOTM this week went to Ben L.
