The Under 13’s travelled to Hitchin Town Cougars for their penultimate game of the season, looking for a positive result that has eluded them over the last few weeks. On a very large pitch the visitors struggled to get going initially with most of the game being played in The Hares’ half of the pitch, and it didn’t really come as a surprise when Hitchin took the lead after The Hares once again failed to clear from a corner. It seemed to be the wake up call that The Hares needed by going behind, as they slowly managed to get themselves back into the game, and were on level terms just before the break when Charlie Allen found the net with a superb free kick from just outside the box. Despite the encouraging end to the first half for the visitors Hitchin Town once again took the lead to make it 2-1. Chances were few and far between for The Hares, and despite their efforts to find the equaliser by changing to a more attacking formation the game was settled when Hitchin found the net with virtually the last kick of the game to make the final score 3-1. Hopefully The Hares can finish on a high next Sunday when they visit Knebworth for their final game of the Season.

It wasn’t going to be easy for the U15s going into Sunday’s match against the team above with 2 recent losses and no subs on the bench against Lemsford Tigers away. The boys came out with determination and even though they were shooting uphill in the first half managed to find themselves 3-1 up in the first half with two goals from Matt and one from Aus G. Shortly into the second half Lemsford pulled one back so it was a nail-biting second half! The boys, although tired after the Easter break, managed to keep going and pushing the defence with a few chances just going wide! Eventually the patience paid off and a fourth goal came from Aus G. The boys didn’t relax and fought to the end and it was a great team performance, well done boys! MOTM Aus G 🏆
