U8 blacks were away at FC Comets this morning in the glorious sunshine. A strong first quarter performance meant the boys had the better of the game when they stopped for a break. The management team used this to their advantage, encouraging the boys to play in different positions, and to use their left foot more!! The result was a hat trick for our usual goalkeeper and some good display of skills. Samuel was voted POM by the opposition and William by the parents. Well done boys i think you are pushing a bit too well for promotion!!
A tough game for the U8 Oranges today at home against Letchworth. As ever you never know what team will turn up and despite some great efforts by the boys, they struggled to match the experience of a large club. It was great to see Charlie H back after a few weeks off and a MOTM performance by Finley. Looking forward to another home fixture next week against Royston and the first time this season that both the U8s are at home. I sense a little reunion ahead with the boys on the pitch and the mums over the tea stall.
The U12 Yellow team worked extremely hard for each other to earn today’s victory against Hertford Town, they should be very proud of themselves. Lemsford (who were victorious against us last week) suffered defeat to Hertford only a couple of weeks before so we knew it would be tough but goals from Toby (2) and Francis secured a fantastic result. Selecting Star Player was very difficult, so many of the boys did so well. Kai was magnificent in central defence, winning the ball and driving the team forward. Luca in Central Midfield worked hard to keep the ball moving and Francis had by far his best game of the season up front. James put in another great performance at right back. We’re starting to look like a team now, we won’t win every week, this division has some tough opposition but if the boys continue to produce performances like that they’ll get an awful lot from it and that’s the most important thing. Well done.
The Under 14’s welcomed Welwyn Garden City to Ralph Sadleir this weekend hoping to continue their perfect start to the League this season. The visitors started the better of the 2 teams and deservedly took the lead mid-way through the first half with a long range effort. However the Hares finally started to get themselves into the game and managed to get themselves on level terms before half time when George Clark slotted home a cross from the left by Joey Wedge. In a very evenly matched second half neither teams had many goal scoring opportunities but it was The Hares who managed to get themselves in front when George Clark added his second of the game after a scramble in the penalty area to make it 2-1. The home side managed to hold on to their lead and record their 3rd win out of 3 to continue their 100% start to the league. MOTM went to Billy Norman for a hard working display in the midfield.
The U16s are through to the next round of the County Cup after a win to a team in the lower divisions. It gave the boys a chance to try out playing in different positions to what they’re used to and move out of their comfort zone. A hat trick for Noah, Dan 2, Dom 2 also goals from Ollie G, Aus C, Matt, Haydn, Luke, Ollie S, Aus G. MOTM this week went to Hadley
