First game of 2019 for the u8 blacks in their new division was away against Melbourn. It was a bit of a shock to the system for us parents, but the boys were keen and eager!! They started well and demonstrated that a few weeks break hadn’t stopped them remembering where the goal was! Samuel was voted MOTM after some great work in defence and also an excellent goal, but it really was a fantastic team performance. Well done boys a great start to the year.
2019 brought an initial home game for the u8 oranges against Baldock Town. It wasn’t the first time the two sides have met and the boys were keen to have a good game. Only absence was Louis otherwise we had a full complement of players. MOTM performance from Leo who worked so hard throughout and a last minute goal from Charlie H sent us all home happy. Special thanks to Brad who refereed in Jons absence, proving what a united squad we are.
The Under 14’s travelled to Potters Bar this weekend hoping to keep their unbeaten record in the League. It was obvious from the warm up that the lads were ‘up for it’ this week and sure enough it only took 2 minutes from the Kick-Off for George Clark to find the net to make it 0-1. The Hares doubled their lead 10 minuets later when Barney O’Hara scored from a Jake Craddock De-Bois corner. It was Jake C who netted the 3rd on 20 minutes after curling in a shot from what looked like an impossible position from the left hand byline. The Hares were playing with so much confidence now, and next on the score sheet was Tom Norris who netted his first goal for the club on 32 minutes with a superb header, again from a Jake C corner. Tom found the net again right on the stroke of half-time for his second, and The Hares 5th of the game. The second half continued as the first had finished and within 3 minutes of the break George C scored his second of the game. 5 minutes later it was Luke Spowart’s turn to score when he found himself at the right place at the right time to tap into an open goal from George Clark’s cross. 7-0 soon became 8-0 to The Hares when Sam Barker scored probably the goal of the game with a cracking shot from outside the box on the right. The rout was completed when George C was brought down in the box and Tom Norris stepped up to complete his hat-trick and make the final score 0-9 to the visitors. An excellent performance from the lads this week, and probably their best performance, particularly in the first half of the season so far. Hopefully they can take this into next weekend’s all important top of the table clash vs Hoddesdon Town. Billy Norman earned himself a MOTM performance with a non-stop effort in the middle of the park.
