This morning was the third time in a row that u8 oranges played Baldock. Jack was back from his short trip away but no Charlie R due to family commitments. The boys started well and as with the previous two fixtures it was a very close game that anybody could win. MOTM performance from Vinnie, goals from Leo, Jack and Adam. Home next week and a reunion with the blacks. We look forward to seeing Louis back on the pitch after his globe trotting!! Bring it on!!

Repeat away fixture against Bishops Stortford for the u8 blacks today, with a slightly later kick off of 11am. With an unchanged side for us, we were hoping for a repeat result and the boys worked hard to ensure it happened. An opening goal from Harry, two that were cracked in from 20 yards (Samuel and Harry) and a penalty awarded each for both teams meant for a fab morning of football. William converted his penalty for Hares, and Harry went from goal scorer to goal saver in the last quarter to earn his POTM award. Well done boys, our first home fixture of 2019 next weekend against our old friends Buntingford Cougars.

The Under 14’s welcomed Hitchin Town to Ralph Sadleir this week looking to continue their unbeaten run in the league this season. Despite The Hares having the better share of possession, the first half passed by without any real chances for either side and the teams went in to half time with the scores level at 0-0. The second half was more open with both sides having chances. Joel Sutton was at his best in the Hares’ goal with some fine saves, one resulting in a bloodied nose after ‘getting one in the face’ after racing out to a one-on-one with the Hitchin Town striker. With time running out The Hares looked like they were going to have to settle for the draw, but in the final minute of the game the ball was put into the box from a corner by Jake Craddock De Bois, and it was Barney O’Hara who reacted quickest to a the scramble to poke home and win all 3 points for The Hares. Overall the home side probably deserved the win which keeps them top of the table, and with Hoddesdon Town in second place also winning the 3 points were very welcome. MOTM this week went to Joel Sutton by keeping another clean sheet in The Hares goal.
