The Under 14’s were back into League action after the Christmas break by welcoming Lemsford Youth to Ralph Sadleir this Weekend. Hoping to keep their unbeaten record intact the home side knew they were in for a hard game against the team sitting 3rd in the league. Despite The Hares having the fair share of play in the first half neither side had many clear cut goal scoring opportunities, and the teams went into the break level at 0-0. The second half mirrored the first with The Hares dominating play but not being able to create many chances against a stubborn Lemsford defence. With time running out, and playing 3 up front The Hares were pushing to find the breakthrough, and the deadlock was finally broken with 2 minutes remaining when Barney O’Hara flicked on Jake Craddock-De Bois’ corner into the box, and after a scramble Sam Griffiths Jones was in the right place at the right time to poke the ball home and win the game for The Hares. The result keeps The Hares top of the league, but with Potters Bar and the all important top of the table clash against Hoddesdon Town coming up in the next 2 weeks the boys will have to be at their best to continue their excellent run. Sam Griffiths-Jones earned himself MOTM this week with an overall great performance and the winning goal.
