The Under 14’s travelled to Letchworth Garden City for their final League game of the season. With the rare luxury of having 11 players available the Hares were looking to finish the season strong and put in a good performance with their League Cup Final less than 2 weeks away. After a good start by the visitors it only took 6 minutes for the deadlock to be broken when Joey Wedge crossed from the right to find Barney O’Hara who scored to make it 0-1. Joey was again the supplier for the second goal when he found Jake Craddock on 17 minutes to make it 0-2. With a penalty awarded to The Hares on 27 minutes George Clark, who was looking to confirm himself as the leagues top scorer stepped up to slot the ball home to make it 0-3. One minute later it was 0-4 when GC found the net for his second of the game after the impressive Joey Wedge was again provider with a cross from the right. The second half continued as the first and  14 minutes in Joey Wedge was scorer rather than creator this time when he found the net after a mistake by the keeper to make it 0-5 . With the game won, and with the final in mind the team played in a slightly different formation for the remainder of the game, but there was still time for one more goal. After a strong run into the box by Man of the Match Joey Wedge the ball fell to Barney O’Hara who scored his second of the afternoon and make the final score 0-6 to The Hares. An excellent performance by the boys to end the league season with which saw them finish as runners-up, and the team should feel encouraged going into their final on 12th May. Congratulations to George Clark who confirmed himself as the League’s top scorer with 34 goals in 21 games, beating the second placed player by 2 goals.
