Standon & Puckeridge Hares Youth Football Club are a community-based football club located in the Hertfordshire town of Puckeridge. We are a volunteer led charitable organisation with an ethos focused on fun for all levels with key engagement from the parents of players to support the teams. Our partnership with Ralph Sadleir school and the local Parish Council for use of the Community Centre provide the club with a home and facilities to support all age groups for training and matches.

Formerly known as Hormead Hares FC, we were officially formed in October 2000. The club became one of the youngest teams to be awarded the Charter Standard status after just 2 years, which was then closely followed with the prestigious Queens Award for Voluntary Service. Following years of growth and success both on and off the field, the club moved to our current home in Standon & Puckeridge. The club ethos stayed strong following the move to our new home and is once again building on our strong base to both develop and grow. In 2021, the club appointed a new committee with the aim of moving the club forward for the future.

Hares is ideally situated to affiliate with three league systems: The Mid Herts League, Royston Crow Youth Football League and Cambridge & District Colts League, offering opportunities to play on both Saturdays and Sundays through to the under 18 age group.

A revised Academy targeted at children in the 3 school years from Year 1 down to the final year of Nursery, gives children the opportunity to develop their confidence before moving to competitive football with the anticipation of a newly formed team at ‘under 7’ each year starting in September. There is no ability or experience prerequisite for joining the Academy and is designed as the entry point for most children to football.

We continually seek to grow and collaborate with our community
